Transformations in the economy are always accompanied by shocks. External shocks to the system, such as currently a combination of the war in Ukraine and the urgent need to achieve a carbon free economy can help reinvent the economy. In part II of Wartime transitions in Europe, we focus on the role of finance in these transitions. Is finance a catalyst for change or rather a detractor? We will look at the role of financial institutions, and the at the environment in which they operate, ranging from fiscal and monetary policy makers to clients.
